Abstract

Background: In this study, we aimed to describe comprehensive family nursing care utilizing a wall sit board intervention for acute pain in a hypertensive patient. With hypertension's high prevalence and frequent manifestation of circulation-induced headaches, our objective was to evaluate isometric wall sit board exercises as a non-pharmacological pain management strategy to address existing therapeutic gaps.

Methods: This descriptive case study, conducted at the Segiri Community Health Center in Samarinda, encompassed six home visits from January 26–31, 2026. One hypertensive client and their family were enrolled. Data were collected via interviews, clinical observations, physical examinations, and documentation reviews. Ethical approval was obtained, and participants provided informed consent.

Results: The primary outcome was effective acute pain management, evidenced by decreased pain intensity and blood pressure. Integrating health education and family support improved healthy living behaviors and disease comprehension. Clinical assessments revealed that the knowledge deficit diagnosis was resolved by the third day. The remaining diagnoses acute pain, ineffective health care, and family coping inadequacy were completely improved by the intervention's sixth day.

Conclusion: Our study contributes to understanding non-pharmacological hypertension management by demonstrating the wall sit board intervention's effectiveness in reducing acute pain and enhancing family care involvement. This highlights the value of integrating family-based education with alternative physical therapies. Future studies should address larger cohorts in broader clinical trials to statistically evaluate this intervention, ultimately advancing global health knowledge.
